The goal of this exercise is to explore different ways to start a story.

Try to start the same story in the following ways:

1. With a generation

Most bank robbers are imposing men wearing caps and sunglasses. Stephanie supposed that was why she always managed to surprise her targets.

2. Description

She pressed the cold barrel of the gun against his temple and then cocked it with an auditable click.

3. With narrative summery

I cock the Glock and grind it into the side of the guard’s head.

4. With dialog

“This is a Glock. I squeeze the trigger and your brains are splattered against the wall.”
